NELSON & LUCY
My name is Nelson Malaque, and I am a Filipino serving in the Philippines. I was born and raised in the northern part of the province of Surigao. I am married to Lucy Malaque, and we have been blessed with three sons: Nathan, David, and Shadrach.

Our journey in missions began in 2004 in Davao, where we served on staff for six years. After completing our commitment, we sensed God leading us to pioneer a YWAM base. We took time to seek His confirmation, and once we were certain of His call, we moved as a family to Butuan City in 2010 to start the ministry. Although we were unsure of what lay ahead, we chose to obey and trust God to lead us step by step.

The journey has not been easy, but God has proven Himself faithful to His promises. I have served as the base director for the past 15 years and am currently in the process of handing over the leadership to someone capable of continuing the vision and leading the ministries forward.

I also served as Chairman of YWAM Mindanao for nearly seven years, providing spiritual leadership to 12 bases and operating locations. During this time, I traveled extensively for pastoral visits, meetings, and mission work, all with the goal of advancing God’s Kingdom throughout the region.

Over the years, God expanded my territory beyond Mindanao. I’ve had the privilege of serving in national leadership, and most recently, I was commissioned as part of the new national leadership team of YWAM Philippines, together with two other leaders. We serve as a team of three, each with specific responsibilities. My role focuses on providing spiritual leadership for the mission across the nation.

Our family continues to serve together. My sons are actively involved in the media ministry of YWAM Philippines and YWAM Butuan. As a family, we remain committed to serving God in these last days.
